LAMAYURU CHILLING TREK (LADAKH)

Ladakh or the ‘Land of High Passes’ is a barren yet beautiful region located in the north Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. Sharing its east border with Tibet. Ladakh has Lahaul and Spiti to its south and the Kashmir valley to the west. Strategically placed on ancient trade routes, Ladakh lies between the Kunlun Mountains in the north and the Himalayas in the south. The region originally comprised the Baltistan valley, the Indus Valley, Zanskar Lahaul, Spiti, Aksai Chin and Ngari.
Lamayuru to Chilling trek is actually a moderate kind of trekking that focuses mainly on famous monasteries, monks, local/ tribal people, small ancient villages and stupendous valleys all around the region. In all, this trek is completely meant for the nature lovers and the spiritual beings to explore the Buddhist culture in a pure form. This part of the trekking trail in Ladakh region offers the breathtaking view of the Photoksar Peak after crossing the Sumda Chenmo village and Stok and Karakoram Range after passing through the Kongskil La at 4900 meters.

Day 1– Arrival Leh –Acclimatize

Day 2 – Drive from Leh to Lamayuru trek to Wanla (3749 m – 4hrs.)

Day 3– Trek from Wanla to Hinju (3785 m -8hrs.)

Day 4 – Trek from Hinju to Sumdo doksa (4430 m) Via Kongskil la ( 4945 m- 7 hrs)

Day 5 – Trek from Sumdo doksa to Dung dung chan la base (4430 m-5hrs)

Day 6– Trek from dung dung chan la base to chilling-drive back to leh (2 hrs)

  • Horses with horsemen to carry loads on the route. (Participant will only have to carry a small hiking day pack with their water bottle, some trail food and trail layers. Everything else will be carried on horses.) There is a 10 kg weight limit for your bags that will go on Horses

Trekking Grade
These are subject to individual fitness levels and could differ from person to person.

Grade2: Moderate
The trek duration each day may span from 4 – 5 hours, but on some days, it may push up to 8 – 9 daysIt is slightly challenging, uphill and downhill, walking close to mountain views and walking through the beautiful mountainous forests. The elevation from 2500m to 4000m is considered grade 2.

Grade 3: : Difficult
From an altitude of 4000m to 5550m is considered a strenuous trek or grade 3. Most of the trekking of Nepal is in grade 3. You need some previous trekking experiences and have decent physical fitness. Climbing and descending are very usual experiences for these types of trekking and you may have to cross small glaciers as well.
